Cheetah Outreach

Stoney Point Penguin Colony – Betty’s bay

The Stony Point land-based penguin colony, operated by CapeNature, is the third-largest breeding colony of African Penguins in the world and has been showing a measurable increase in breeding pairs. A thoughtfully constructed boardwalk allows visitors to meander through the reserve and closely observe the penguins in their natural habitat.

Polkadraai Strawberry Farm – Stellenbosch Arterial

This farm offers strawberry picking, tractor rides & mini-golf, plus light bites & a food/wine shop.

Monkey Town – Mondeor Rd

Monkey Town Primate Centre, located on the N2 in Somerset West is a Wildlife Centre for monkeys and apes as well as a large variety of other species of animals. There are more than 250 primates and 26 different exotic species of monkeys and apes including Tammy, Ruby, and Sunny, our famous chimp sisters.

Danie Miller Trail – 37 Aurora Dr, Mountainside, Gordon’s Bay

Walking the Danie Miller Hiking Trail will surprise you with the most spectacular views of Gordon’s Bay, False Bay, Helderberg Area, and our harbor. It has a wide variety of indigenous plants, small streams and is a contour walk for young and old and follows the contour above the top houses along the length of Gordon’s Bay just below the anchor. The trial is about 2.9km long and takes about 2 hours to walk.

Crystal Pools

One of Gordon’s Bay’s little secrets is Crystal Pools. A natural waterfall where the water falls down from the Steenbras Dam. Enjoy an open-air cold shower and jumping off rocks into the pools is exhilarating. The hike from the R44 is only 2km (45 minutes), starts out fairly easy but the climb gets tough to the first pool. Permits can be purchased at Grille Shack

Harold Porter Botanical Gardens

This lovely garden is situated in the center of the coastal fynbos where the flora is at its richest. It encompasses mountain slopes with wind-clipped heathlands, deep gorges with relict forests, flats, and marshes with restios, sedges, and bulbs, as well as dunes adjacent to the beach with specialized salt-adapted plants. The Garden is renowned for its waterfalls and amber pools.

Learn to Surf

The feeling of being able to stand up on a surfboard and ride a wave is amazing. Our coaches have picked up all the tips and tricks that you need to enjoy the waves, improve surfing techniques, and squeeze every drop of fun out of your vacation or surfing experience. We offer everything from private instructions to group classes, with surfing lessons that have been designed to teach all ages about ocean and surf safety while you learn a new skill. Scuba Dive

Offering a range of boat and shore dives exploring the beautiful kelp forests, rocks overgrown with beautiful reefs, old navy shipwrecks, and wonderful encounters with marine life. The reef is vibrant and full of life. False Bay boasts numerous nudibranchs, interesting crab species and lobsters, colourful anemones, feather-stars, brittle-stars, varied sea sponges, sea-fans, octopuses and cuttlefish, as well as colourful fish such as the Klipvis, of which there are 34 known species in False Bay alone.
